The Doctor of Public Health (DPH) is one of the prestigious follow-up professional studies with a significant managerial overlap for experienced professionals and leaders who want to influence the health of the population at the strategic, organizational or systemic level. Public health must connect health surveillance, prevention, health protection, emergency preparedness, communication with the public and the functioning of the health system. The program develops the ability to turn professional knowledge and data into priorities, programs and decisions with an evaluable impact.
It is intended for leaders of public health and health institutions, experts in epidemiology, hygiene and occupational health protection, managers, employees of insurance companies and public administration, leaders of non-profit organizations, analysts and crisis preparedness coordinators. It will be used by professionals who design or evaluate measures for entire groups of the population, coordinate several organizations and need to balance health benefits, resources, law, ethics and public trust. The program does not replace the legally stipulated qualification for a regulated profession.
The content includes epidemiology, population health, public health, hygiene, occupational health and occupational diseases. The healthcare system, financing, financial management and DRG make it possible to assess how organizational and economic decisions affect the availability of services. Legislation, ethics and the GDPR create a framework for responsible action. Leadership, human resources, motivation, teams and a coaching approach support the leadership of professional and interinstitutional teams. Crisis management and communication prepare for situations in which decisions need to be made quickly, transparently and based on incomplete information.
Advanced public health decision-making must assess not only the average outcome, but also the differences between regions and population groups. A measure may be professionally effective, but without trust, availability or organisational capacity, its benefits will not materialise. VAT therefore links the intervention design to implementation, evaluation and sustainability. The participant learns to identify the theory of change, appropriate indicators, possible undesirable consequences and how to involve partners. Such an approach helps to distinguish between an activity that has been carried out and a real improvement in the health of the population.

TITLE AFTER THE NAME OF VAT
The graduate should be able to critically assess a health problem, select appropriate indicators, compare possible interventions and propose a method of implementation and evaluation. The knowledge can be used in health promotion strategy, preparedness for epidemics and other threats, service planning, occupational health protection or coordination of regional and national programs. The methodology of the final thesis supports an evidence-based project based on real practice. VAT thus develops leaders who want to combine professional authority, managerial responsibility and long-term public health impact.
VAT represents a prestigious level of professional education for those who want not only to professionally monitor public health, but to shape it strategically. The program develops the ability to work with complex evidence, make decisions in uncertainty, and lead interventions whose success depends on the cooperation of healthcare, public administration, local governments, communities and the media. A graduate of the VAT program critically evaluates evidence, health indicators and existing interventions and connects epidemiology, prevention, population health, management, financing and legislation. He/she is able to design a program or strategic measure with a clearly defined target group, measurable goals, method of implementation and evaluation of real impact. He/she is ready to lead interinstitutional cooperation, communicate uncertainty and risks, and make ethically responsible decisions even in crisis situations. He/she processes an applied professional project with an emphasis on public benefit, equal access, sustainability and respect for the competencies of regulated health professions.

DESCRIPTION OF THE POSTGRADUATE STUDY PROGRAM
- The study begins every year in February and September, lasts 1 academic year (2 semesters), in full-time or distance (online) form.
- Complete study materials necessary for study are provided by the Institute.

After graduation, the graduate obtains in cooperation with a foreign partner:
- Certificate with international accreditation on the completion of postgraduate studies in the Slovak language with the listed subjects, number of hours and credits completed by the graduate.
- Certificates with international accreditation on the completion of the educational program in English, which inform about the main professional competencies that the graduate has acquired.
